Exodeck Ipé - 4" x 4"
Ipé is an exotic wood species from Central and South America. The best wood productions, however, come more precisely from Brazil. The ipé offers a rich and deep color, with beautiful color variations. Combining different shades of brown, olive green and reddish brown, each place also has many grains and a strong veining which gives it a unique beauty.
By its incomparable look, the Ipé will integrate perfectly in your garden, your backyard, around your spa or around the pool.
Ipé has one of the longest possible lifetimes for a wood species. We calculate its lifespan at least 50 years ... and up to 100 years.
Perfectly suited to the Canadian climate, the ipé is known for its great stability and resistance to bad weather. Its high density and very long longevity make it an excellent choice for the construction of patios, balconies, terraces or other exterior architectural elements.
We have two choices regarding the maintenance of the Ipe.
No maintenance: If you choose to let the wood age without treatment and to do no maintenance other than an occasional wash, the Ipé will transform from the first months until reaching a beautiful silver platinum gray. On the other hand, it will not lose its smooth and splinter-free touch.
Oil treatment: If we decide to apply an oil treatment, once a year, the ipé will retain its exceptional colors over time. The oil, in addition to protecting the wood from ultraviolet rays, will enhance natural colors, prevent graying of the wood and increase its durability.
Recommended finishing product
For a perfect finish of the wood, the application of penetrating exterior oil for exotic wood Penofin is recommended. Its monolayer formula penetrates dense wood (ipe, mahogany, teak) deep like no other brand on the market. It also offers 99% protection against ultraviolet rays and mold.
